Hello and Welcome,
My name is Rachel Hayden and I am a graduate student at Armstrong State University. I am a substitute teacher in the Savannah area, and I plan to teach K-3 once I finish my Master's in Early Childhood Education. Though passion is a word many people throw around, it is really the only one that describes my attitude toward teaching. I genuinely love going to work every single day. It is such a blessing to be able to do what I love and I am so thankful for my wonderful family who continually offer their support and encouragement. Though no one in my family is an educator, that is not the case for my in-laws. My mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, grandmother-in-law and various aunts-in-law are all educators or were at some time. I guess you could say I married into the right family! My new family members are all incredibly helpful, and give me great teaching advice all the time. I know I want to be a teacher for the rest of my life. Even when I have a difficult teaching day, I can't wait to go back the next day. Teaching really requires commitment, patience, dedication, encouragement, knowledge and most of all, belief in your students. I am attending Armstrong to prepare for the challenges and rewards of teaching elementary school and, thanks to my wonderful professors and fellow students, I know that I am in exactly the right place.
